The Hippodrome State Theatre is recognized as one of the leading regional theaters in the country, staging productions for more than 60,000 people annually. The Mainstage theater uses professional actors and has its own set and costume designers and sound and lighting engineers.

The building features a 266-seat thrust-stage Mainstage theatre and an 80-seat cinema space, along with a bar, art gallery, box office and administrative offices. The interior retains the historic charm of the original walls, doors and beams from its Post Office and Courthouse era.
