Go birding with the Alachua Audubon Society and explore Boulware Springs Park.
At 8 a.m., meet trip leader Andy Kratter in the parking lot located at the northernmost entrance to the park. From there, the group proceeds westward into the restored wooded area to look and listen for Bachman’s Sparrows, Northern Bobwhites, Red-headed Woodpeckers, various sparrows, and other avian targets. Also be on the lookout for migrating loons and learn about this fascinating migration pattern. This walk is ranked as Difficulty 2: greater than one mile. The following items should be included on any birding field trip: binoculars (a must), water, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes, rain gear for sudden downpours, notebook, camera, contact information. Admission is free and non-members are always welcome.
