alachau county looking forward film premiere

Over the next two centuries, Florida will experience a profound transformation, distinct from the past two centuries. Leading up to Alachua County’s bicentennial, a vulnerability analysis was conducted to assess preparedness for nuisance flooding, extreme heat and storms, and other changes. The results revealed that significant efforts are needed to maintain or enhance the quality of life in Alachua over the next two centuries.

Through grant funding from the Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN)’s Emergent Learning Program, Alachua County collaborated with Grace 2 Overcome Inc. and The Well Creative Production company to develop a film that explores how local residents are understanding and preparing for the changes, and to facilitate a conversation on how Alachua County can develop actionable strategies to protect our residents and communities.

The film lasts approximately 30 minutes, accompanied by catering and refreshments. Following the film’s conclusion, a facilitator leads a group discussion.

Admission is free with advanced online registration.
