The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners is investing $30 million in a public-private partnership with Celebration Pointe for the Southeast’s premier indoor sports event facility. Conveniently located directly off I-75 in the heart of Celebration Pointe, the facility hosts track and field, basketball, volleyball, cheer, gymnastics, and more. Funded through a $30 million commitment of tourist development tax, the facility generates over 110,000 annual room nights for local lodging providers and at least a billion dollars in economic output, including $392 million dollars in wages and nearly $24 million in county sales tax and related tourism and development taxes.
Visitors can dine, shop and stay within the walkable Celebration Pointe and Butler Plaza areas, which offer thousands of hotel rooms, dining for all tastes and budgets, and hundreds of retail stores.
The Alachua County Sports and Events Center is located at 4870 Celebration Pointe Drive, Gainesville. The 144,000 sq. ft. facility hosts a calendar of events including basketball tournaments, volleyball, pickleball, gymnastics, trade shows, athletic camps and more.
